Moodreal® is a patented extract standardized on a dual active profile: safranal ≥ 2% (UV/VIS), the key aromatic compound responsible for neurological activity, and crocins 4–6% (UV/VIS and HPLC), carotenoid pigments with antioxidant and neuroprotective properties. How saffron acts on mood
Moodreal®'s mechanism of action was validated in vitro on a reference model: the serotonin uptake assay on rat synaptosomes. This model is the standard used to qualify the activity of SSRI-type antidepressants (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors).

These results are remarkable. The Hamilton curves show nearly identical drops: -54% for saffron vs -55% for imipramine, -54% for saffron vs -64% for fluoxetine, and above all -53% for saffron versus only -22% for placebo. In all three studies, statistical significance is maximum (p<0.001). All participants had a Hamilton score above 18, indicating moderate to severe depression.
Nature doesn't replace medicine. But when a plant active shows activity comparable to pharmaceutical references in rigorous trials, it deserves a place in the conversation on daily wellbeing.
